Roger Dean is an iconic artist most well known for his fantasy landscapes that have adorned album covers for the past 30 years. In addition to his work for the music industry he has worked in videogames, publishing, architecture and film. Dean’s most well known work was album covers created for Yes and Asia.
69 Love Songs is a project created by London-based fans of the Magnetic Fields. The small collective of artists and designers are taking on the task of interpretting and illustrating each and every track off of the Magnetic Fields’ three volume album, 69 Love Songs. I am eagerly awaiting what they come up for “Washington, DC” and “Popular Mechanics for Lovers.”

French developer Yann KOËTH, aka xs_yann, has a great selection of plugins for Cinema 4D at his site. xsTab, xsTextureTabs and xsHNSwitcher are great time saving plugins that I recommend. Unfortunately for Mac users some of these are PC only.

This tutorial continues on from where we left off in part 1. In part one we created an object that animates using the vibrate tag, sweep NURBS and a Mograph tracer object.
In this tutorial we will be creating our own material that will give our object that we created from part 1 the illusion of looking like water. We will be going over some basics of materials, shaders and displacement. This tutorial is a bit long but most of that is due to the number of screenshots. It really is a quick process and I can make this material in only a few minutes.

In this tutorial you will learn a few basics in Cinema 4D using a little mograph and some tags to create some flying liquid that will form into a cube shape. The final effect is cool but the techniques used can be applied to a wider range of effects. This is part one of a three part series. In this edition we will create the initial animation of water flying through the air. In part two we will create a liquid like material with displacement mapping and in the third and final part we will be creating the illusion of our flying water to settle and form a shape.
